The company started in 1933 as a hide and wool company in Manhattan, Kansas, and throughout the years has adapted itself for not only survival but success. In the late fifties and early sixties, Kansas Hide and Wool (the predecessor to Steel and Pipe Supply) began selling steel to its customers in Western Kansas and Western Nebraska. Steel soon became the primary product and by 1965, the company changed its name to Steel and Pipe Supply Company, Inc.

Today, Steel and Pipe looks significantly different from the early years with a single facility located in Manhattan, Kansas. Our growth has occurred naturally and also with acquisitions. Now extended throughout the Midwest, our services include four full-service warehouses; cut-to-length flat roll and temper operations; a tube and pipe manufacturing facility at EXLTUBE; and two comprehensive processing facilities.
