Statement of Purpose

Fuller Theological Seminary, embracing the School of Theology, School of Psychology, and School of Intercultural Studies, is an evangelical, multidenominational, international, and multiethnic community dedicated to the equipping of men and women for the manifold ministries of Christ and his Church. Under the authority of Scripture we seek to fulfill our commitment to ministry through graduate education, professional development, and spiritual formation. In all of our activities, including instruction, nurture, worship, service, research, and publication, Fuller Theological Seminary strives for excellence in the service of Jesus Christ, under the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of the Father.

Mission Beyond the Mission

In 1983 Fuller Theological Seminary issued the Mission Beyond the Mission. This document, produced by the seminary community under the leadership of then-President David Allan Hubbard, addressed a broad range of moral and ethical issues from a perspective shaped by deep loyalty to the Scriptures as our infallible guide to questions of faith and practice. The Mission Beyond the Mission was praised by many in the Christian community as a creative discussion of some crucial challenges for Christian discipleship. We are pleased to reissue it, in the hope that it will continue to stimulate a faithful Christian engagement with some of the deepest concerns of contemporary life.
