Kara Alfaro is lead designer and plant specialist. She earned a degree in landscape architecture from Iowa State University in 1997. After a year of working for a Civil Engineering firm (up North), she moved to Florida to pursue her passion for plants. The first couple years in Florida, she worked for a landscape architecture firm, although it was much closer to plants and design, it wasn't enough. After a short time designing for a landscape contractor in Collier county, she found her niche. Kara and Sergio started Elata Natives in 2000, she loves the 'hands on' with the plants and helping clients create gardens beyond their expectations.

Sergio Alfaro "Is in charge of everything outside", as he would say. Or another way he describes it is "Kara puts the design on paper, I make it real"

He came to the United States from Guatemala in 1986 and brought with him a strong work ethic and an enthusiasm for nature and plants.
He has over twenty years experience in the landscape business is Southwest Florida. Prior to starting Elata Natives he worked for one other landscape company for 14 years. Sergio works very efficiently with the crew to provide quality service for every client. Whether it's a large or small project he strives to ensure each client is more than satisfied with the results.
